Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often should my heat pump be cleaned?
A: In general every 1-2 years. One year is often a proactive measure and by the end of the second year it is more reactive. The first year, the growth should be off to a slow start. The second year the growth hits the ground running and proliferates at a quicker rate. When determining the frequency it is important to consider how you operate your unit. Generally speaking the majority of build up is generated in the cooling and dehumidifying season. This is do to condensation on your coils which attracts dust and other particulates to stick to this coils. This then provides an organic base for the growth of mold. We have found that people who use their air conditioning frequently yet intermittently, often experience execrated growth as opposed to constant use. This appears to be caused by the stagnation of moisture in the coils in humid environments. When turning off your AC snap on the fan for 10-15 minutes to dry out your unit!

Q: How Long does a cleaning take?
A: Typically 1.5-3 hours. There are a number of factors such as the model, size, location and length since the last cleaning. We routinely find that units that have been cleaned before by other companies to take longer than units that have never been cleaned before. Our staff are also very personable, we don't hesitate to strike up conversation if there is interest on your behalf!
